About Saint Pierre Photo

       My name is Birdie St. Pierre. I am a fine arts photographer based in Tolland, Connecticut with a particular interest in nature and wildlife photography. I grew up in Tolland, a small town in the process of transformation from rural to suburban, where I spent most of my childhood exploring the woods. I take interest in the scientific side of nature, studying animal behavior and ecology and incorporating that knowledge into my work. I have a deep appreciation for those who work closely with nature, and those who maintain the tradition of hand-making things in a world of mass-production.
      Among my interests are taxidermy, and other processes that involve using elements of nature and extending their lives through artwork and other practical uses. Being someone who enjoys having a physical connection to my work, I am interested in antique photographic processes and silver gelatin prints. I do, however, appreciate the wide range of options provided by more modern digital processes. I hope to express a deep love and understanding of nature and wildlife in all sizes, shapes, and forms through my work.
